At the first meeting at which the Mayor takes the oath of office, the Council shall designate one of its members as Vice-Mayor, who shall serve at the pleasure of the Council. The Vice-Mayor shall perform the duties of the Mayor during his or her absence or disability. (Code 1982 § 2-2-2. Code 2012 § 30.002.)
