The compensation of elective officers of the City shall be fixed from time to time by resolution of the Council; provided, that the compensation allowed to the Mayor and Councilpersons shall not exceed that allowed by state statutes. (Code 1982 § 2-1-5. Code 2012 § 30.024.)
